What is FFA?

FFA is a national organization which makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.

This means that by joining and being active in the Slinger FFA, you will develop the skills and experience things which will help you to compete in the work force of the future, even if you are not planning to go into the business of agriculture. Becoming an FFA member is easy. All you have to do is talk with Ms. Lillia Janz or one of the club officers and fill out a membership form.

Membership has its privileges

FFA members get to do many things that other students will never experience. As a member, you may serve as an officer, be in charge of a committee, or participate in a wide variety of competitive events like judging contests, public speaking, and showing animals at fairs.

You will also have a chance to travel, whether to a local or state event, or maybe even to the National FFA Convention in Kansas City MO., which the Slinger chapter attends every year. We also send two people to Washington, D.C. for a leadership conference every summer. You could even take it farther and participate in the FFA international exchange program and travel to foreign countries. The FFA can take you anywhere you want to go!

Be an active member

Being in FFA also has its responsibilities. In order to enjoy all the privileges offered, you need to be an active part of the Slinger FFA. This means to participate in chapter activities and attend monthly meetings, which are on the first Wednesday of every month. It is important to attend these because it is where we organize and plan our activities, share ideas, and decide how to spend the money our members make for the organization by participating in the fund raisers.
 
If you know of activities you are interested in or a place where you could help out, don’t be shy, ask Ms. Lillia Janz, an officer, or a committee chair if you could help. Anything you can contribute will be appreciated.
