Meal Assistance - Free & Reduced Priced Meals

Applications for meal assistance are accepted throughout the entire school year.

A new application must be on file each year and benefits will not begin until the application has been processed.

If you would like an application mailed to you, please contact the Food & Nutrition Office at (262) 644-6204 ext. 5100 or lisa.kusek@slingerschools.org. If you have students in multiple Slinger Schools, you only need to complete one application. 

Families who believe they may qualify for Free or Reduced Priced Meals are encouraged to apply even if their child may not purchase lunches. This helps the school qualify for additional education programs and funds.

Meal Assistance Pricing

Only one of each meal per day qualifies for meal assistance. All ala carte items and extra items purchased in the main line or bar line are at full price.

  • Elementary students qualifying for free or reduced-price meals will receive breakfast at no cost.
  • All students qualifying for free meals will receive lunch at no cost.
  • All students qualifying for reduced-priced meals will lunch for $.40

The application information and status of assistance are kept confidential. Students do not need to use separate lunch lines or let the cashier know that they are on the program.

Q: What is the Free and Reduced Meal Program?

A:  The National School Lunch/Breakfast Program is a federally subsidized program that is designed to help eligible children receive meals at no cost or at a reduced price. Families that qualify for free or reduced-priced meals can confidentially participate in both the USDA Lunch and Breakfast Programs.


Q: What if my child was directly certified?

A:  If you received a letter stating your child was directly certified for meal assistance, you do not need to complete an application.


Q: When is the application due?

A:  Applications are accepted at any time during the school year. For confidential processing, please return or mail the completed application to the School Nutrition Office 207 Polk St, Slinger, WI 53086


Q: How do I fill out an application?

A:  One application per household is needed. Please follow the instruction page provided with the application. We cannot approve an application that is not complete; so please be sure to fill out ALL required information. Incomplete applications will be returned to the sender.


Q: If I qualify for meal assistance, do I get my school fees waived?

A:  School registration fees are waived for families that qualify for meal assistance. Student accounts are updated with this discount once a signed Sharing Information Form is on file with the Nutrition Department.


Q: If my student qualifies, how will he or she receives their meal?

A:  The computerized meal system is programed to charge the correct amount when a student uses their student ID. Students do not need to let the cashier know that they qualify.


Q: What if I have questions on filling out an application?

A:  If you need any assistance in filling out the Free and Reduced Priced Meal Application please contact the School Nutrition Office at 262-644-6204 ext. 5100. Our office hours are 7:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
