¡Bienvenidos!

Your child has made the fabulous decision to study a world language!

Education:

I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BS in K-12 Spanish Education. After deciding that the career for me was Spanish Education, I decided to further my knowledge and understanding in the language and culture by studying abroad in Seville, Spain for a semester. This experience has changed my life in countless ways; however, most importantly I gained fluency in the language and had a hands-on experience with the Spanish culture. In October of 2010 I completed my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Spanish which now allows me to offer our Spanish 5 class as a CAPP course.

Courses Taught:

Currently here at Slinger High School I teach Spanish 5 and Spanish 4.

Availability:

If you have any questions or concerns for me throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me. It is easiest to reach me by e-mail gena.ische@slingerschools.org or you can leave me a voicemail at 262-644-5261 extension 1245 and I will get back to you as soon as I am able.

Co-Curricular Activities:

I am the advisor for the Spanish Honors Society as well as a co-advisor for the Spanish Club here at the High School.

The Spanish Department here at Slinger High School develops meaningful lessons revolving around the 5 Cs: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparasions and Communities. These standards describe the "what" of world languages learning and form the core of standards-based instruction in the world languages classroom.

The Spanish Department also uses the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines as a means to evaluate each student in every level of Spanish taught here. These guidelines soley describe what a student can and cannot do with language in the areas of speaking, reading, writing and listening.
