CAPP Information
Cooperative Academic Partnership Program
College Credits: If you are interested in taking Spanish 5 as a CAPP course you can earn up to 18 credits at UW Oshkosh if you (1) earn an A or B in the course (earning a C will earn you the 5 credits, (2) register as a CAPP student at UW Oshkosh, and (3) pay half the tuition fee that a college student would pay for the course.
The Cooperative Academic Partnership Program (CAPP) at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh provides academically able high school students an opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school. Qualified students may enroll in select college courses taught by university approved high school instructors. CAPP gives students a chance to experiment with the academic rigor of university course work while remaining with high school peers. CAPP helps to set students apart from other college applicants and gives them a jump start on a college career.
Unlike Advanced Placement (AP) courses and other gifted education program offerings, CAPP courses award students full-fledged university credit on an official UW Oshkosh transcript – based on their course grade – putting them a step ahead upon graduation. These credits can transfer to any UW system school and most accredited universities across the US.
Which students are eligible for CAPP courses?
High school juniors or seniors are eligible to enroll in CAPP courses if they meet at least one of the following three requirements:
• Class ranking in the upper 25 percent.
• A GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0-point scale.
• An ACT score of 24 and class ranking in the top 50 percent.
What are the costs of CAPP?
For students, CAPP course tuition is based upon the number of credit hours for each class in which a student enrolls. CAPP students pay half the standard per-credit tuition rate, with the per-credit tuition amount being determined by the University of Wisconsin System. As part of their tuition, students receive a UW Oshkosh TitanCard, which grants them access to the UW Oshkosh Polk Library and computer labs at the University.
The cost of the five-credit CAPP course for the 2019-2020 school year is:
Spanish 204 = $500.00. You can expect tuition rates to go up a bit for the 2020-2021 school year. More information will be available in the Spring.
