Graphics Club

Students join the Graphics Club each year to expand their skills and gain experience at layout and design and printing shirts.  This dedicated group of student works during study halls or after school to screenprint shirts for various clubs, organizations, and athletic teams at Slinger High School.  The Graphics Club, which is open to freshmen through seniors, takes great pride in seeing their work displayed on many people throughout the school.

Who can join?

Any 9-12th grader who has had, or is currently in, Graphics I can join anytime during the year.

How often does it meet?

It varies.  Other than a couple of organizational meetings in September, we seldom have a formal group meeting.   Students simply show up to help out during study halls or after school as schedules permit.  This flexibility is great for students who, for example, may be out for a sport in fall, but have fewer commitments during the winter.  When we have large printing jobs, you just sign up if you can help.  Most printing is done from 2:30 - 4:30 pm after school, with a couple of jobs scheduled into the evening, as necessary.  Some students just do designing, some prefer to print, while others like to do a little bit of everything.

What do you get out of it?

We have a lot of fun while we "work"!  You also gain great printing and computer skills (beyond what you can learn in class), as well as learn how to plan, organize, and problem-solve while producing a wide variety of quality designs for our customers. You will also learn the importance of teamwork in order to produce quality merchandise.

Where's the money go that the Club makes?

Each year the Graphics Club gives one or two scholarships of about $200 each to a senior pursuing a career in graphic arts.  We also use money raised to purchase equipment for the lab, and of course we save some money to buy pizza and other snacks for all of our meetings!
