Slinger High School Snowboard Team
is a competitive Alpine racing team formed in 2015 which races in a conference with Whitefish Bay, Port Washington, West Bend, Waukesha and Hartford High Schools. We have competed at the State Championships in LaCrosse in February every year since our conference formed and have had many students compete each year at the Snowboard National Championships in Colorado in April.
The team practices on Wednesdays and Sundays at Little Switzerland once the hill opens for the season. There are eight total days of competing which start, usually, on the first weekend of the new year. Competitions are all on weekends and, with the exception of State Championships, have been in Southern Wisconsin. All racers compete in Giant Slalom, Slalom and Boardercross events.
We have both JV and Varsity teams and all students race at each event. Students who compete on the Varsity team have the opportunity to earn a Varsity Letter. No experience is required to join the team and there are no tryouts. All racers however must start with a basic ability to snowboard - get on and off the lift independently and maneuver the hill in control.
Mark your calendars – Our first informational meeting will be held Wednesday, October 21, 6:30-8pm at Slinger High School. We will discuss an overview of the team, expectations and answer all questions. The meeting is open to all students, preferably with a parent, of Slinger High School for the 2020-2021 school year.
Please wear a mask to the meeting. If you are unable to attend, please contact us and we will email you the information/registration packet after the meeting.
