| Skills USA |
|
SkillsUSA is a nationwide organization in which high school and college students compete in various technical skill areas and leadership competitions. Students also do community service to help promote good citizenship. One of our community service activities each year is to travel to Milwaukee to serve food to the less fortunate at a place called "The Gathering." We also work at the county-wide rummage sale fund raiser for the Washington County Albrecht Free Clinic each fall.

| David's Dream/National Crane Foundation |
|
Allenton Elementary created about 700 cranes for a project called David's Dream with the National Crane Foundation. These cranes were combined with many other cranes to create three large mobiles each containing 1,000 cranes. The mobiles will be donated to the three Children's Hospitals in Wisconsin as a visual sign of "hope" for all the children who battle cancer.
On Thurs. May 12th one of the crane mobiles that Allenton students helped Allenton Service to create was dedicated to the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee. This is part of David's Dream, a young boy who lost his battle with cancer. The mobile is a symbol of hope for families who stay at the house and will be a permanent display in the Art Therapy Room.

| Fall Yard Clean Up |
| Fall Yard Cleanup usually takes place at the end of October or beginning of November. On a Saturday, starting around 9AM, high school Student Council members go to houses in the community and rake leaves. Community members that are interested can call the school starting at the end of September to make a reservation. |
| Santa Sitters |
| From 1 - 4 on a Saturday at the beginning of December, parents can drop their elementary school children off at the high school for a few hours of games, crafts, and a visit from Santa. No reservations needed. Student Council members send flyers to all the elementary schools in the district. |
| Senior Citizen Dinner |
|
Student Council hosts a dinner at the high school before the Winter Choral Concert (usually around mid-December). Council members also sing Christmas carols and raffle off poinsettias. Members of the community can call the school to make a reservation.
|
| Project Cinderella |
|
High School students who are in need of a formal for Homecoming, Snowball, or Prom are able to choose a dress from a selection of donated dresses. There is no charge for the dresses. A local business cleans the dresses for free and Fashion Design class does the alterations.

| St. Vincent De Paul |
| The students in the Cognitively Disabled Students program at the High School volunteer daily at St. Vincent de Paul where they do a variety of jobs. The greatest benefit of this activity is the experiences the students get in a work setting, but it is a service that they do provide in the community. |
| Autumn Oaks |
|
As a school wide project the students of Slinger Elementary School visit the residents at Autumn Oaks in Slinger. Each class gets to visit Autumn Oaks. While there, the students engage in many different craft activities, perform Reader's Theater plays, or engage in other fun activities with the residents. Ms. Lees' first grade class had fun at their visit to Autumn Oaks in February. We played board games like Sorry!, Checkers, and Trouble with the residents. It was fun playing games and talking to the residents! We can't wait to go back next year.

| Operation Giving |
| Operation Giving adopts families during the holidays. The students at Addison Elementary do the purchasing and wrapping of the gifts for the children and parents. |
| Jump Rope For Heart |
| Addison and Allenton Elementary does Jump Rope for Heart every year in their physical education classes. It is done to raise awareness of heart disease and money for the American Heart Association to continue educating people on this subject. |
| 5th Grade Volunteers |
| The 5th grade students at Addison volunteer their noon recess time to help in the Other Health Impaired classroom, working with students at the computer, doing bulletin boards or whatever else is needed. |
| Albrecht Free Clinic |
|
Slinger High School's Graphics III students are doing the design, layout, and printing of brochures and appointment cards for the Albrecht Free Clinic, located in West Bend and Hartford. The clinic served over 1,300 patients who are either uninsured or underinsured in 2009, and the demand is growing. It is a non-profit organization supported by medical professionals and many others who donate their time, money, or services. These Graphics class students will utilize a newly acquired two-color offset printing press, which was purchased with a donation from Quad/graphics, and will print with paper and inks purchased with private donations. Students are excited at the opportunity to work with the clinic's executive director to help out with such a great cause.

| National Junior Honor Society |
|
National Junior Honor Society members have gone to Autumn Oaks on several occasions to play board games and cards with the residents. Both students and residents thoroughly enjoy this time. We have also played Bingo with the residents and made a few Thanksgiving crafts.
For Easter and Thanksgiving the NJHS students host a story/craft time at the Slinger LIbrary. Several students read stories to the children, then lead them in making a special craft. We usually supply the drink and snack for all the children that participate. At Easter time NJHS also hosts the Easter Egg hunt at the library
NJHS members volunteer their time for the Addison and Middle School parent/teacher conferences. Parents are able to drop off their younger children while they attend conferences. NJHS students play games and color with the young children while their parents attend conferences.
Last year, along with the student council, we held our first Relay for Life week. We had many male staff members shave their heads in an all school assembly where we reaised over $3,000!
