Welcome to Addison Elementary School! I am very excited to be the new principal of Addison Elementary School! This will be my first year as a Slinger Owl and I look forward to working with and getting to know everyone who is part of the Addison School Community. This year will be Addison’s sixteenth year as a comprehensive elementary learning center, which accommodates students in 4K-5th and houses the district’s early childhood program. Over the past year our facility has seen a few new additions and updates with four new classrooms on the northeast corner and a new, expanded upper parking lot! We are bound to have a fantastic year!!
Our school wide theme this year is “Gear Up for Learning” which will guide us on our mission together and highlight our emphasis on student learning, character development, academic achievement and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) based learning projects.
The teaching staff at Addison will be very familiar this year as all of our regular classroom teachers are returning. We do have a new reading specialist (Mrs. Carissa Frank) and a new early childhood teacher (Hannah Pardon) joining our team this year. The rest of our staff remains quite stable. We are excited to embark on this great journey together as we work to create a memorable year for our students, staff and school community.
Facilities
Some of the major features of our school include the secured, clearstory entry at the upper level; a beautiful, large library with many windows looking out over the woods to the north; modern special education rooms for the district's most needy elementary students with disabilities; and a cafeteria and gymnasium similar to those facilities in the middle school. There are also "break-out” spaces for each of grades two, three, four, and five that provide additional square footage for computers, tutoring, small group instruction, and student projects both now and in the years to come.
South of the building, flat play areas have been created, expanded, and enhanced. Grass is growing on our new baseball/softball diamonds, our soccer fields, and our PE playing fields. In addition, there are both blacktop and grassy playgrounds, which are located north and east of the school. In addition, there are also two separate playground systems for both our younger and older students. A tree-lined boulevard serves as the entry to our new school building, east of Indian Drive, just north of County. Hwy K. To see more of Addison and take a virtual tour of our school, please go to the Virtual Tour tab, which is part of our website.
If you have any other questions or concerns about our school, please do not hesitate to e-mail or call me at 262-644-8037. Welcome to Addison Elementary!!
Sincerely,
Joel T. Dziedzic (Jay-jeetz)
