HOME WORK
Students will have ample time to work on their homework in the classroom. From time to time they will have to bring something home to finish and occasionally I require homework to go home. Students are expected to have their work completed on time. When a child’s work is late I am unable to see if they need help before we move onto another area. Here are some important points regarding homework:
- The goal is to have 5 or less late assignments first quarter, 4 or less second quarter, 3 or less third and fourth quarters. If students achieve this goal they earn a reward at the end of the quarter, therefore I will be tracking homework when necessary.
- If something is not completed they will receive a late slip for you to sign—there is an example attached.
- When students have a late assignment they will be asked to stay in at their recess or Study Hall to finish the assignment. The purpose of this is to help catch them up and be prepared for the day’s new learning.
- If the assignment has been left at home it is considered late and should be returned the following day finished.
- Students are REQUIRED to read nightly and get their assignment notebook signed. Your signature with number of pages read, tells me your child read at home. Your signature also shows me you are aware of upcoming events or tests that will be listed in assignment notebook as well. I have attached an example of what your child’s assignment notebook should typically look like each day.
- Students have two days to get items that require signatures signed such as tests.
- If students score below a C on an assignment they HAVE to fix it with the teacher or parent.
