Course Description
1/2 Credit Semester 9,10,11,12
This course is designed for students who have interest in metals, engineering, or auto mechanics and is a prerequisite for Machine Shop I and Welding I. Metals I is a basic metalworking course designed to provide experience in sheet metal layout, forming, forging, heat treating, and arc welding. Students will lay out measurements, use template patterns, and operate bending and cutting machines to skillfully fabricate light sheet metal projects. Students will learn different ways to join metals together, the types of metals available, and their characteristics. There is a material cost to be paid by student.
