The History of Honours, Inc.

Honours was founded in 1983 by a group of concerned individuals to provide financial support to Slinger High Shcool graduates of outstanding ablilites to continue their education.  It was incorporated under federal and state revenue codes as a non-profit charitable foundation.  All gifts and contributions are tax deductible as defind in the tax codes. 

By 1986 the fund had grown to $250,000 due notably to two substantial individual gifts of $25,000 and $115,000.  In 1988, the Board of Directors authorized a fund raising drive.  The entire community responded through gifts and pledges by individuals, businesses, and community service organizations.  The fund grew and continues to grow.  Today the endowment fund has almost reached 2 million dollars.

In order to guarantee the fund in perpetuity, scholarships are awarded from a percentage of the yearly earnings.
